particularly in light of the attack on America, but
this may truly be the most important letter I ever

Congressman J.C. Watts to draft an Amendment to the
U.S. Constitution to protect the holy sacrament of
marriage from those who would legalize same-sex
"marriage."

Now we must take this Amendment -- The Federal
Marriage Amendment -- to the floor of the U.S. Senate
and House of Representatives.

But even though this Amendment has broad public
support, it won't pass without real public pressure.
And that's why I am writing you.

The threat that Matt outlines in his letter is
real and pressing. Our opposition, The Gay Rights
Movement, is organized. They are already proceeding
in state courts and it will not be long before they
move to the federal courts and even all the way to
the Supreme Court.

And that is why The Federal Marriage Amendment is
so important. It will protect marriage by taking the
power to legally define "marriage" out of the hands of
activist  judges.

Matt Daniels and Alliance for Marriage are
leading this fight for us. Matt has an excellent
track record organizing both in the halls of Congress
and at the conservative grassroots.

But to win this battle for marriage, one of the
very cornerstones of our culture and faith, Matt and
AFM will need our help.

Dear Friend,

Enclosed are two checks, one for $38 and a second for $76.

These checks are to be used by my organization, Alliance
for Marriage (AFM) to help pass a NEW AMENDMENT TO THE U.S.
CONSTITUTION

THE FEDEFAL MARRIAGE AMENDMENT, to once and for all
time legally define marriage as the union of a man and a woman.

Unfortunately, AFM cannot cash even one of these checks
unless we receive a matching contribution from vou.

And that's why I am writing -- to ask you to make a
special contribution of $38, $76 or $114 in the next ten days
to help AFM cash one or even both of these checks.

In a moment, I'll explain the importance of these two
checks to the work of AFM.

But first, I want you to understand what's at stake.

As I write you, the homosexual movement is implementing a
bold new strategy to use our activist courts to LEGALIZE
"MARRIAGE" BETWEEN SAME-SEX COUPLES.

Since July 2000 when the Vermont Supreme Court forced
homosexual "marriage" on Vermont, over 2,000 same-sex couples,
two-thirds of them from out-of-state, have obtained a Vermont
"civil union" marriage certificate.

Now in two new court cases. these couples are using our
courts to force other states to recognize their so-called
homosexual "marriages"...

...and to challenge the federal Defense of Marriage Act

on the grounds that it is unconstitutional.

In Georgia, two lesbians who obtained a "civil union"
marriage certificate in Vermont are suing to be recognized by
Georgia as a married couple.

The case represents the first Vermont-based challenge to
the federal Defense of Marriage Act, as well as to the Georgia
law that defines marriage as the union of one man and one
woman.

And there are literally hundreds more of these cases
coming in every state in the nation.

For instance, THE SAME HOMOSEXUAL GROUP RESPONSIBLE FOR
VERMONT "CIVIL UNIONS" has filed a lawsuit that will destroy
marriage in Massachusetts in a year.

And the homosexual community, led by groups like ACT UP,
Queer Nation, and other similar fringe organizations, is
raising money from Hollywood and San Francisco to win passage
of new legislation in California that will make homosexual
"marriage" the law in that state.

Make no mistake these court cases ARE NOT ISOLATED
INDEPENDENT EFFORTS!

They are part of a coordinated plan led by the National
Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the Lambda Legal Defense Fund
and supported by People for the American Way and the ACLU,
among others, to radically redefine marriage in America.

A plan that includes:

Public displays of homosexual marriage like the recent
February 12th National Freedom to Marry Day that saw
so-called "married" homosexuals demonstrate in 20 U.S.
cities.

A new 61-page, six lesson elementary school curriculum
designed and marketed to public schools all across our
nation called Exploring the Debate Over Marriage Rights
for Same-Sex Couples; and

More and more court challenges like those in
Massachusetts and Georgia.

Evan Wolfson, Director of the Marriage Project at
Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund makes no bones about
it:

"Several new lawsuits are expected to be filed in
promising states within the next year. We have it within
our reach to marry within five years."

So there can be no doubt that this homosexual activist
plan to legalize homosexual marriage is now on the fast track
to the Supreme Court

That's why we need a NEW Amendment to the Constitution!

The battle for this Amendment to protect marriage from the
onslaught of the homosexual movement and activist courts is
being fought by my organization, Alliance for Marriage (AFM).

And already AFM has the support of virtually every Pro-
life Pro-family leader in America

Dr. Jim Dobson is on-board as is my friend Chuck Colson.
So are Senator Rick Santorum, Congressman Henry Hyde, Cardinal
Anthony Bevilaqua and many other leaders including Judge Robert
Bork who helped draft the legal language for the Amendment.

And very soon we will introduce this Amendment in both the
House and the Senate.

But passing our Federal Marriage Amendment in both houses
of Congress is just the first step

To make the Federal Marriage Amendment the law of the land
and stop homosexual "marriage, we've got to get state
legislatures in 38 states to ratify our amendment

And that's why the enclosed checks for $38 and $76 are so
important.

AFM has received a special one-time only Matching Grant of
$25O,OOO -- the "seed money" they need to begin building a
state-by -state grassroots or organization to win ratification of
our Amendment in 38 targeted states.

The generous donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, has
made it a condition of his gift that it be matched by
donations from people all across the nation.

So AFM cannot cash either of the enclosed checks for
$38 or $76 without a matching gift from you.

Will you help us?

Will you please make a matching gift of $38 to AFM today
so that they can cash the $38 check? Or even a gift of $76 to
enable AFM to cash the $76 check?

Or perhaps you can help us cash both checks with a gift of
$114.

$38 is just $1 for each state we need to ratify our
constitutional amendment; $76 is only $2 per state.

Over the next 12 months, AFM has budgeted $2.1 million to
educate, build and train a 38 state force of grassroots ground
troops to work with the legislatures in their states to ratify
the Federal Marriage Amendment.

But it won't happen without your help.
